Matt and I had the greatest vacation- and spent the last ten days in mostly St. John sleeping in a treehouse. I had posted about the Maho Bay Campgrounds a few weeks ago… They’re doing a great job at staying ecological sound in a place that’s so easy to take advantage of. We had a lovely time sleeping next to the birds and lizards, and waking up right as the sun came up (5:45am!!) The sounds and bed reminded me of my time in Uganda, and I fell comfortably back into the swing of living with nature’s sounds. We spent the days climbing around to different ruins and lookout points, swimming in the beautiful ocean, snorkeling, sailing, and our favorite- diving. We saw sea turtles, octopus, and stingrays- along with a multitude of some of the best coral I’ve seen in years and some beautiful fish. It keeps me wondering why I haven’t purchased underwater casing for my camera yet. In the next few days I’ll be bringing you some new photos of that trip, along with some other treats. I hope the 4th brings you a lot of rest and fun with your friends and family! I know I’ll be thinking of my friends in the military especially today- along with all of those that served in the past. Thank you… so very much.

and on the prop plane leaving the island… i actually got to sit right next the pilot!
